Daylighting Law

New Traffic Law graphic

California’s new Daylighting Law (AB 413) took effect on January 1, 2025. The law prohibits stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle within 20 feet of a marked or unmarked crosswalk. Vehicles must park 15 feet away from a curb extension. The law applies regardless of a red curb or parking restriction sign.

This law hopes to improve safety at intersections by increasing visibility for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. The IPD will enforce this law through education and enforcement.
