Helmets Prevent Injuries and Save Lives!

Bike Helmet Broken from a Traffic Collision

Recently, a student wearing a helmet fell off his e-bike at 13 MPH. The child’s impact with the ground was strong enough to crack his bike helmet. Thankfully, he only sustained minor injuries. Investigators believe the helmet prevented him from sustaining significant head injuries. We cannot stress enough the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bike. A bike helmet could save your life or the life of your child!

In most cases, when a person under 18 receives a citation for a helmet violation, they can attend a bike safety course instead of paying a fine. We are providing e-bike safety classes to all IUSD middle and high school students who ride e-bikes, scooters, and skateboards to campus.

Our commitment to bicycle safety enforcement is as important as all the other measures we take to keep our community safe!
