IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY

Burglary Prevention

Preventing burglary and theft is a collective responsibility that involves both law enforcement and the community. The Irvine Police Department uses statistical data to identify crime trends and deploy resources strategically to prevent, deter, and solve crime.

Our Real Time Crime Center monitors calls as they occur and provides real-time information to officers in the field. We also deploy drones to assist with field operations, enhancing our ability to search for suspects and respond to active incidents. Additionally, our Directed Enforcement Team and Crime Impact Unit target specific criminal activities throughout the city, while our Criminal Investigations Division conducts surveillance when crime trends are identified.

Protect your home with these tips:

  • Install security film on all your glass doors and windows
  • Maintain a security system and camera system with activity alerts
  • Know your neighbors and look out for each other
  • When a stranger is at your door, communicate with them through your camera or from behind the door so they think somebody is home
  • Lock your doors and windows
  • Vary your lights on timers so your home looks occupied
  • Secure your valuables in a properly secured safe
  • Use sliding window locks
  • Inventory your valuables and include serial numbers, receipts, and photos of items
  • Register your bike at Project529
  • Conduct a home security survey using our Security Checklist

And most importantly, if you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call us right away at (949) 724-7000.
