About the Program
Emergency services may be delayed or overwhelmed in a catastrophic disaster, leaving residents to care for themselves and their neighbors. The Irvine CERT program trains community members in basic disaster response skills, helping them better prepare for hazards that may affect their community.
CERT is an eight-course, hands-on program (3 hours each session) that builds readiness, safety, and community resilience skills. Graduates are encouraged to share their knowledge with others and stay engaged through continuing education and ongoing training opportunities.
Training Includes:
- Disaster Preparedness
- Fire Safety
- Basic First Aid and Triage
- Light Search and Rescue & Utility Controls
- Team Organization and Disaster Simulation
- Disaster Psychology
- Hazardous Materials & Terrorism Awareness
