California Vehicle Code (CVC) 22514 prohibits parking a vehicle within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, regardless of whether the curb is painted red. Yellow markings on the road or curb designate water valve locations and do not indicate the minimum distance a car can be parked from the hydrant.
