If you have ever been convicted of a sex offense, you may be required to register under California law as a sex offender. You will need to check with the Irvine Police Department’s Investigations Bureau to see if the sex offense for which you were convicted requires registration, including any out-of-state sex offense convictions. It is a crime to fail to register and may count as a third strike.

In addition to Megan’s Law, there may be additional restrictions concerning your status as a sex offender, such as living near schools and parks. You should contact the Irvine Police Department’s Investigations Bureau for further information regarding these restrictions.
