About the Traffic Bureau
The Traffic Unit is committed to maintaining safe and efficient roadways in Irvine. Officers enforce traffic laws, conduct collision investigations, and collaborate closely with the Public Works Department to identify and resolve traffic-related issues throughout the city. This unit also includes Area Traffic Officers focusing on neighborhood traffic concerns and the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Additionally, the unit oversees specialized programs such as:
- Parking Enforcement Unit
- Commercial Vehicle Enforcement
- Crossing Guard program
The unit’s top priority is educating the community about traffic safety issues, including child safety seats, e-bikes, motorcycles, pedestrian safety, and preventing impaired driving.
